E4C – Education for Conservation

In the course of globalization and the constantly growing needs of the industrialized nations, international companies and investors in many poor countries have often been acting exclusively profit-oriented for decades. Low levels of education and social imbalances leave ordinary people in those countries with no choice but to make common cause with them, causing lasting damage to their own natural habitats as well as those of wildlife.

Education and development

Our experience has shown that peaceful coexistence of people and wildlife can only succeed if the local communities have their basic needs satisfied. These essential needs must be met sustainably in order to simultaneously protect species in the long term. The active involvement of the population in the conservation efforts is a crucial aspect.

By creating educational opportunities for all, developing and implementing good ideas together, and providing funding, local communities get the chance to create and realize their projects that secure sustainable development and protect local wildlife habitats.

Partnership

The SAVE Fund stands shoulder to shoulder with the people affected – whether in Botswana, in the rainforest in Borneo or Europe. Together we are responsible for seeking new solutions to ensure education and sustainable development of the local communities. We are a reliable partner putting species conservation first.

Our activities in Poland

In Poland, we focus on a wolf protection project on the border of the Mazowieckie and Swietokrzyskie provinces. The opening of borders in Europe and cross-border cooperation protecting wildlife helped wolves spread across our continent. Many natural landscapes can still be found in eastern and central Europe that provide suitable habitats for these predators. Unfortunately, these locations are often at risk as they are being used for economic activities. The SAVE Fund supports population research, wolf recolonization monitoring and protection.

Moreover, we are also aware of society’s lack of acceptance of these predators, as well as existing myths and misconceptions. Therefore, we organize lectures and other forms of educational initiatives so that people can get accustomed to the increasing number of wolves in their vicinity. We believe that these animals will have a better chance of survival in the long term due to these activities.

Through education and sustainable development of local communities, we can create an opportunity to protect wildlife!
