SAVE at the International Wildlife Congress 2025 in Lillehammer in Norway

On September 1-4, we had the pleasure of participating in an international conference in Norway devoted to wild animals — their welfare, problems, protection, and future – IWC  https://www.iwc2025.com/

It was a joint venture between the 37th International Union of Wildlife Biologists (IUGB), the 18th Nordic Congress of Wildlife Research (NKV), and the 16th Perdix Symposium, in cooperation with EuroMammals. This year’s edition was held under the slogan “How wild is wildlife?”

Among the issues discussed were topics related to the threats posed by climate change and the relentless development of our civilization to wildlife, as well as those related to interspecies interactions, the coexistence of humans and nature, and new technologies, research methods, and artificial intelligence.

The meeting was attended by over 500 participants from around the world, including from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand, Uganda, and India.

The presentations focused on numerous, though unfortunately some already endangered, animal species: from Scandinavian reindeer and arctic foxes, through American deer and wolves, European badgers, lynxes and partridges, to African mountain gorillas and Australian Tasmanian devils and small bandicoots.

Our foundation was represented at the conference by Joanna Toczydłowska, who gave a presentation entitled “Close, but Not Too Close: Spatial Patterns of Wolves in Human-Modified Landscapes,” on the use of various types of habitats by wolves in the heavily urbanized region of central Poland.

The conference, which was extremely rich in content and addressed many important issues and problems, was organized at the highest level.

Both the organizing team (mainly scientists from the University of Inland Norway – INN) and volunteers, as well as the entire group of over 200 speakers, did a great job, and the presentations given during these four intense days impressed with their professionalism.

We are very happy that we could be part of this extraordinary event!
